Nelson Mandela Story

18th of July 1918 it all starts out with a baby called Rolihlahla Mandela, Nelson's name in African meant was pulling the branch of a tree, Nelson’s name was given to him on his first day at school by his teacher. Nelson was brought up in a Madiba clan with his dad being the acting chief but 9 years later Dalibhunga Mandela (Nelson’s dad) passed away in 1943 because he had Tuberculosis.

16 years later after his father's death he joins the ANC (African National Congress) as an activist, The year after he joins to the ANC Nelson Mandela married his first wife Evelyn Mase at the age of 24 with her being 4 years older. Their 13 years of his first marriage has ended in 1957. The year after Nelson’s divorce he soon married Nomzamo Madikizela and they had 2 children together.

Nelson Mandela was sentenced to five years in prison Sentenced to five years for leaving the country without a passport and incitement. 2 years later Nelson was captured and convicted of sabotage and treason and sentenced to life in prison at the age of 46, at first on Robben island where he would be kept for 18 years in, but in 1968 while he was still in jail his mother dies and his eldest son is killed in a car crash but he is not allowed to attend either of the funerals.

1990 Nelson Mandela is released from prison after 27 years. 1992 Nelson has parted after she is convicted of kidnapping. The year after, Nelson finally divorced her. Nelson Mandela and Mr de Klerk are awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. 1994 Nelson Mandela runs for president. 4 years after becoming president he Marries Grace Machel, on his 80th birthday. Nelson Mandela announced that he would be retiring from public life at the age of 85. His son, Makgatho Mandela died of AIDS in 2005. 8 years later he passed away at the age of 95 after suffering from a prolonged respiratory infection.
